WORLD VISION'S CHILD RESCUE PROGRAM:

All money earned from this album will go directly towards the work of World Vision's program - Child Rescue. And here’s a great little story that shows what Child Rescue as all about:

When Danine, aged 12, worked in the brick factory, she saw her uncle nearly lose his arm in the clay-grinding machine. "I was so scared,” recounts Danine. "I realised working in the brick factory was dangerous."

Danine is the eldest of two daughters. When her parents struggled to make ends meet, she had to miss school to help out. Danine was falling behind in school - reducing her chance at building a better future. She would return home from the factory "exhausted and pale", with no energy for study.

Thanks to Child Rescue Danine and her family received help through a project to prevent child labour. Danine's parents were only able to complete middle primary education. However project workers helped them to understand the benefits of Danine continuing schooling, and let them know about a drop-in centre where Danine could catch up on classes.

"I was so happy when I heard that there was a centre for children to go and study with a playground to play," said Danine. Her parents are fully supportive of her studies: "I do homework every night at home with my mother". "Now I do well in class," she says proudly. "I can focus on studying ... I want to become a doctor!"
